Charge to the Bride and Groom:

Many traditions have some things to say about marriage and love with flowery language, but little value. Most usually read from 1 Corinthians 13 where it talks all about love. But if you two didn't understand that we would be here today. One place that has something of value to say is Ephesians 5 because it addresses how we are wired in our heads as men and women.

Husbands are to love their wives, even when they don't deserve it. They should also respect their wives. But love is her need. Knowing her man loves her no matter what will let her know she is safe, and will unlock the potential in her to be the best wife she can be.

Wives are to respect their husbands, even when they don't deserve it. You will never hear of a man who became great with a disrespectful wife. You should love him too. But respect is his need. It lets him know he is safe, and will unlock the greatness in him to be the best husband he can be.

As you start this new life together, there are many things that will pull at your attention. Always remember to connect as man and wife. And don't be concerned with fairness. Love is completely unfair as it gives the other the power to hurt you. Society says it must be fair, and must be 50/50. But a successful marriage is 100/100. Be all in.
Let go of resentment. Don't keep score. Say I'm sorry a lot. And be ready to forgive.

A successful marriage doesn't happen by accident. It happens on purpose.

Prayer for the Bride and Groom:

Lord, we thank you for this beautiful day, and for the opportunity to be a part of a new beginning. I ask that you bless Stevie and Subrina. Bless their family and friends. Cover their home with your peace and love. Amen.
